About this scholarship

The MEF Fieldhouse Membership Scholarship was established in March of 2025 by Jason and Kelly Russell, owners of MEF Fieldhouse, and will be used to further the college careers of qualified graduating Caledonia High School seniors.  The Russells established the scholarship on behalf of MEF Fieldhouse to be supportive of those graduates that are current, active members of the fieldhouse and are seeking personal advancement through higher education that might not have the opportunity without some financial assistance.  This first year, 2025, marks the year when the first freshman class that joined MEF Fieldhouse back in 2021 will graduate.

Administrative Guidelines

The general eligibility criteria for an applicant to be considered for the MEF Fieldhouse Membership Scholarship through the Caledonia Education Foundation is as follows:

1. Member of the Caledonia High School senior class, on schedule to graduate.
2. Planning to attend a two-year or four-year college
   
3. Affiliation with a non-profit, employer, or volunteer position, shown by a letter of recommendation
   
4. Financial need
   
5. Active Member or consistently uses the services of MEF Fieldhouse, 8280 Broadmoor Ave. SE, Caledonia, MI 49316
   
6. Application completed and turned in (with all attachments) by April 1st.​

Application and Selection Procedure

Applications are available online through the Caledonia High School Student Services office and must be turned in with all pertinent attachments by April 1 of the current school year.
Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee consisting of:

1. Caledonia High School student services staff member
2. Caledonia High School faculty member with senior class connections
3. Representative from the Caledonia Education Foundation (either board member or director)
4.  A MEF Fieldhouse manager or owner.

The MEF Fieldhouse Membership Scholarship will be announced at the Caledonia High School Academic Awards Program, of which the recipient will be required to attend.   
The  MEF Fieldhouse Membership Scholarship will not restrict selection on the basis of race, sex, family relationships or employment status.
The MEF Fieldhouse Membership Scholarship will be awarded yearly, assuming there are candidates who meet the criteria.
The recipient of the MEF Fieldhouse Membership Scholarship will be awarded a certificate in their name and a check will be sent directly to the post-secondary institution they will be attending and deposited in the individual student’s account. 

Recipient’s Responsibility

The recipient will attend the CHS Academic Awards Ceremony, where they will receive their scholarship and be available for pictures.
The recipient will provide to CEF the name of the institution they will be attending, along with their student ID number and contact information including a personal email and cell phone number.
MEF Fieldhouse also asks that the recipient would be willing to appear in marketing / promotional pieces and share their experience with the scholarship for future use. 

​If the recipient withdraws from the institution the scholarship is awarded to, the scholarship will be prorated and returned to the MEF Fieldhouse Membership Scholarship Fund with CEF in a manner consistent with the policies of said institution.
