Amy Lou Barnaby Scholarship

About this scholarship

Picture
The Amy Lou Barnaby Scholarship was established by Dixie and Merle Barnaby to honor their daughter, Amy Lou, a 1988 Caledonia High School graduate who died in the fall of that same year.  Amy has been described by high school staff and classmates as a remarkable young woman who gave more to the world in her 18 years of life than some people do in 80.
Although physically handicapped, Amy’s concern was never for herself but for friends and family. A gifted listener and communicator, Amy was often sought out by friends for advice or someone to talk to. She made everyone she knew feel special because she respected and accepted each person she met. Amy served as a great example of someone who although physically challenged, was able to unite and strengthen our community.
With great love and pride, this endowment, created in 1988 and transferred to the Caledonia Education Foundation in 2005, is established to honor Amy’s memory so that others might be inspired by her legacy of unconditional love and respect for all.
